Rick entered Samford University as a Math and
Physics major, but graduated five years later with a degree in Accounting. He
has worked as a CPA in a local firm, with the Baptist Medical Centers, and as a
CFO in the electric motor repair industry. He attended Columbia Theological
Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and an advanced Master of Theology
degree in Old Testament Studies and Biblical Languages. Rick most recently
comes to us from Springville Presbyterian Church, where he was Stated Supply
Pastor. He also serves our Presbytery as Treasurer, thereby serving on Council,
as well as the Stewardship and Finance committee and he serves on the Committee
on Preparation for Ministry as Vice-Moderator. Rick and his wife Beth, live in
Vestavia Hills, with their two cats - Tater and Mango.
Tammy has served as Administrative Assistant for RPC since 1996 and has worked
in various secretarial positions before now. She and her husband Ken have a son,
Kyle and a daughter, Haylee who is a junior in high school. She resides in Alabaster with her family.
Suzanne Phillips holds a degree in Music Education from Furman University and
certification in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at
Birmingham. She currently teaches kindergarten music and piano classes at Advent
Episcopal School where she has been a member of the faculty for 16 years. In the
area of sacred music, Mrs. Phillips has held the position of choir director at
First Christian Church of Birmingham and last served as music director at
Oakmont Presbyterian Church. Suzanne is married to Rick Phillips, who is also a
musician. They reside in Vestavia with their two daughters, Lucy and Gracie.
Naomi Brown has held the organist/pianist position at RPC since 2001. She holds
three degrees in music, including the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from LSU
where she was a student of Jack Guerry. While at LSU she accompanied extensively
for vocal and instrumental performances. Throughout her years of formal music
study, Naomi received many awards and was a winner in several piano
competitions. She has performed in numerous solo and duo piano recitals and
currently teaches piano at two churches in the Birmingham area.
